    Hi,

I change the DB password via the CPanel and in the core/config.inc.php and I got an « Error 500 Site temporarily unavailable ».

I was using MODX 2.2.9 then I upgrade to 2.2.11.

The problem persist. I was not able to run the update, I still got a error 500.

Does anyone have a possible solution to this problem?

    Thanks

Try deleting all files in the core/cache directory and clearing your browser cache and cookies.

Take another look at config.inc.php and make sure you didn't introduce a PHP syntax error like a missing quotation mark or semicolon when you changed the DB password there.

Also, double check the DB password you used in CPanel. It will be case-sensitive, and sometimes hosts will add a prefix to what you enter for the DB name and/or the password.

As a last resort, you can add a new user to the DB with a simple password and change the config.inc.php file again. Don't forget to give the user full rights to the database.

        Thank Bob,

The only thing I had not tried was creating a new user, but this also does not work.

I am in discussion with my host about this problem.

I always have a fresh backup of my site and it's not a big site, so I'll delete everything and make a fresh install (db + modx) as last resort.

        Thank again
