Hi, periodically (totally random amounts of time) my home page will disappear from being displayed on my site, replaced by a blank page, but the rest of my pages will be there. I have to go into manager and resave it for it to reappear. Godaddy has looked at it when the page was gone and the file for the home page is a blank page. Has anyone else experienced this? How do I prevent it?

It has happened since we launched the site a few years ago but it seems to be getting more frequent. I had the site built and only go in and make changes - I am not a builder.

    Thank you,
    Emily

Hi Emily, The content of the home page is in the MODX database, but if the page is marked as cacheable, its content is retrieved from a cache file. The odds are that the MODX cache is being corrupted periodically and that's what is causing your problem.

What version of MODX are you using?

This seems to happen on some hosts more than others. Many people have reported trouble with GoDaddy and MODX.

      FYI, there's a list of MODX-friendly hosts here: http://bobsguides.com/modx-friendly-hosts.html

Thanks for the reply. The version is old because I did not know if I could update it without messing up my files. 2.0.0-pl

I also do not know how to change hosts.

do I need to hire someone to fix this (update version) or can I do it without messing up my files?

It's not too difficult. Here's one method: http://bobsguides.com/modx-upgrade-faq.html.

There's a fair chance that updating to the current version would solve your problem. Some of the early 2.0 versions had trouble with cache corruption.

As for changing hosts, some hosts will help you move the site. I think SkyToaster would.

Yes, we offer free migration with our hosting and if the problem persists we can help you track down the cause of the problem. We've a slight obsession with MODX wink

Sorry about the delay responding, I just found this post.
