    I have a MODx Revo site (2.2.8) that is being hosted with a UK company. Our client wants it to be hosted on a US server (Network Solutions) for SEO reasons. I have copied the site over (cleared caches etc) and the manager works fine but on the front-end there's a problem. There are 2 problems:

    1. It loads a 404 rather than the home page;
    2. The page that loads aborts part-way through;

    I am not to worried about the 404 at the moment because fixing point 2 might help 1.

    The site is here (http://039050c.netsolhost.com/) and if you view the source you will see that it stops partway through some html. Where it aborts seems to be a particular position in the code (if I remove line, the place it stops also moves).

    The place it is stopping is some HTML in a chunk so it's not a php function that is failing. I thought it might be a memory issue but after adding these details php.ini it's still the same (although I can see that the limits have increased :

    memory_limit = 128M
    output_buffering = 2048
    register_globals = off
    magic_quotes_gpc = off
    safe_mode = off

    Any ideas what else I can try (ps. the host are difficult to get information from).

    Ps. I should note that MODx isn't logging any errors and the server's errors logs aren't updating either

      I'm getting a 404 from that link. It looks like it is redirecting to '039050c.netsolhost.com/'

      Did you run Setup after moving the site?

      Do you have this in the head section of all your templates:

      <base href=[[++site_url]] />

      If you have an .htaccess file, you might try renaming it to see if it makes a difference.

        I would also recommend verifying your configuration settings (or running setup again as Bob suggests). It's also possible your host enforces stricter resource usage limits, despite your customization.

        If they use CloudLinux for example, it's possible your account is being resource limited (memory, cpu usage, opened files, etc) causing MODX to not fully render the site.

          SiteCheck will also check all the config file paths and URLs and the directory permissions for you (along with a lot of other stuff). It's not free, but it's pretty nice to have around when things go sideways. http://bobsguides.com/sitecheck-tutorial.html

            Thanks guys. Our client got new hosting with 1and1 and I managed to get the site moved and running within a couple of hours (it mainly took that long due to the large PDF files that I had to transfer over). It would be nice to know what the problems were so I might download Site Check now and run it on the Network Solutions box. I am sure (as it was cheap hosting) it had heavy restrictions imposed on it.

            My normal route for transferring is to install a clean version of MODx on the new box, test it works, install all the packages I need then (after clearing caches and sessions) copy over the database and files as required - this seems to be the best way to get it up and running and avoids problem with incorrect paths etc.

              FYI, for the future: http://bobsguides.com/modx-friendly-hosts.html.

              Having a MODX-friendly host can mean the difference between a quick install of MODX and many hours of cursing and frustration.
