If you use the method in the link I posted, the files will be overwritten automatically. The config.inc.php file will not be overwritten because it's not in the distribution files. No files will be erased.

Thank you -- worked like a charm. Much appreciated.

I'm glad to hear it. I was afraid I'd forgotten something. wink

I actually have one additional question...

Since I'm not just upgrading, but also transferring databases (from a subdomain to the root domain), I want to verify steps to overwrite or replace the root database. It was recommended that I remove the root database rather than overwrite.

If this is the case, I just want to verify that I remove the existing root DB from the MY SQL Databases pane in my cPanel, then create a new database of the same name from the same pane, and then overwrite this new database by uploading the subdomain dB using phpmyadmin.

I just get nervous when hitting delete and don't have much experience with the database side of things.

          Thanks.

Oh, wanted to add, one minor edit to the upgrade instructions -- step nine says "go up one level to the root" -- if you're on core / cache deleting files, it's actually two levels. Very minor edit.

You could just rename the database rather than deleting it. You can always delete it later after every thing is working well.

            Fixed. Thanks!
