I’m a graphic designer, but haven’t had much experience with creating UI’s. Is there documentation or tutorials for 0.9.6 or 0.9.7, either by someone in the community or not, that explains this process. I’m just not sure how I should design a skin (ie. as a whole with slices or as individual components, etc..). I would like to play around with this a bit, so if anyone could provide some advice on skinning the manager that would be great. I did a search in the forums for "create manager skin" and "create skin", but didn’t see anything. Thanks.

The wiki has something about
customizing the manager homepage, but no real comprehensive tutorial, and I don’t know of any doc about this... A good way to get started is browse through the existing MODx admin themes (in [tt]manager/media/style[/tt]).
Anyone with css and html knowledge, and MODx savvy should have no trouble picking up and creating their own theme...

MODx est l'outil id
There ıs absolutely no documentation on manager skinning, the best way of getting familiar with the manager styling is by browsing the existing themes as David said, i suggest you start with the MODxGreen theme as it is a grandfather of MODxlight and yet the light version has so many uncovered id’s or not transferred/skinned/addressed correctly from the green version to the light one.
Alright... thanks for the tips there guys. I’ll play around with it and I’m sure I’ll get it. Thanks again.

There are a few gotchas that I discovered when I made my MODxBleu manager theme, with is simply a color change from the MODxLight template. I was in something of a hurry and didn’t make notes as I went along, so of course I’d have to do it all over again to document it properly. That’s the problem, for all that it has such a relatively small following, we all seem more than busy enough actually using it!
