Hi all.
My first post on here.
My site is built on MODX, naturally. But, my friend set it up for me. I do the basic managing and changing of stuff, but still on the learning curve.
I'm an author of fiction and want my readers to be able to sign up to a "Mailing List", which I don't yet have. I want to set this up so I can inform subscribers (who enter their name and email address) of new novel releases.
It only has to be basic, like the picture attached. But, I like the idea of managing it myself via my MySQL database, rather than one of those ones you have to pay for.
It's important that when I send out a newsletter that subscribers can "unsubscribe" via a link on the bottom of the email newsletter.
Is there an easy way for me to do this in MODX that links to my MySQL database with 1&1 hosting that allows me to do a 'mail shot' automatically to everybody who signs up?
Thanks all,
Nigel
You might look at the Subscribe and Notify extras, which work together to let people subscribe and manage their preferences and also let you send notifications of any kind to each subscriber (filtered by their user group membership and/or preferences).
The EmailResource extra will send an entire resource/page to subscribers, though its UI is a little clunky.
