Articles WP Import Not functioning

Hi, I am trying to import a Wordpress blog into Modx utilizing the articles import feature. However, I have not been able to get it to work at all. I exported the file from the Wordpress blog, posts only, and uploaded it to my server. From there I used the file path to direct Articles to the file. However, it simply stops, gives no reason for the import fail and takes me back to the import screen. This file does have 1600+ posts, but it doesn't seem to be a timeout issue. Has anyone had this happen before?
