    Hi All,

I’m pretty new to MODx but not to web development so I hope someone out there can help me with this query...

I have a video game review site that I’m moving to MODx and need to retain the indexing system from the original site. Each video game has its own page but I need to index the game depending on the categories it fits into. So for example Space Invaders fits into the ’shooters’ and ’pre-80s’ categories. What I would like to be able to do is create a page for the game and then add it to its categories by a tick box (or something similar) then the page will automatically be added as a link to the index page for each category. So I’d create the Space Invaders page, tick the boxes for ’shooters’ and ’pre-80s’ and save it, then Space Invaders would show up on the ’shooters’ and pre-80s’ index pages.

Is something like this possible with MODx?

Absolutely doable with MODx. What you’re calling categories are usually called "tags" in MODx.

If you look at the MODx repository, you’ll see a tag system like what you want:

With a little extra work, you can use Ditto to show the most recently added games or the most popular games, or whatever, on the home page.
