Create new Media Source Type

Hello,

I would like to develop a new media source type. Does anyone have any pointers on where I should start? Ideally I would like to be able to contribute it back to the community, if that's feasible.

I have built a Media Source for Rackspace open cloud files - Had to dig around the current implementation of them in the code (as their is a distinct lack of documentation).
