    Hello,

    I’m curently having problems with wayfinder and the menuindex sort. It doesn’t seem to be only wayfinder either. When i select "sort tree" in the modx admin page, nothing seems to happen, No mater what i choose. I’m wandering if it is a Mysql problem, i have read about it in previous versions.

    It may be something to do with the character collations. I think i created the original database using cp1251_general_ci. This is because the server i’m going to run the site on has an old version of mySQL.

    Has anyone come across this? What collation should i be using? I’d much prefer to get this problem out of the way before i start massive amounts of data into the DB smiley

    Any help would be much appreciated,

    Thanks.

      If anyone is having the same problem it seems to be due to MySQL.

      There is a bug in version 5.0.51, which is the current version in XAMPP 1.6.5. Which explains why i was only having the problem on the computer with a new version of XAMPP.

      For more info see this thread.

          I have experienced all these problems a month ago or so. As soon as Slackware Linux team provided its OS with MySQL 5.0.51 package I have decided to try it out on my developer machine running Slackware. After upgrading database server to 5.0.51 version all these problems with MODx you are writing about had occured. Since the machine also serves several sites for "temporary production use" I have quickly restored 5.0.37 version of the database server and MODx resumed its "predictable behavior". Unfortunately, it seems that we need to wait for an improved release of MySQL.

            5.0.52 is supposed to have a fix for this but I haven’t been able to find a Windows release of it anywhere for my local XAMPP install.

              I’ve been having the same problem with mysql 4.0.25 on a 1and1 mutualized hosting. Found a quick workaround by removing the GROUP BY clause in Wayfinder’s SQL query, doing this on line 351 of wayfinder.inc.php :

              /* OLD     $sql = "SELECT DISTINCT {$fields} FROM {$tblsc} sc LEFT JOIN {$tbldg} dg ON dg.document = sc.id WHERE sc.published=1 AND sc.deleted=0 AND ({$access}){$menuWhere} AND sc.id IN (".implode(',',$ids).") GROUP BY sc.id ORDER BY {$sort} {$this->_config['sortOrder']} {$sqlLimit};"; */
              /* AdCE */ $sql = "SELECT DISTINCT {$fields} FROM {$tblsc} sc LEFT JOIN {$tbldg} dg ON dg.document = sc.id WHERE sc.published=1 AND sc.deleted=0 AND ({$access}){$menuWhere} AND sc.id IN (".implode(',',$ids).") ORDER BY {$sort} {$this->_config['sortOrder']} {$sqlLimit};";

              This doesn’t solve the document tree’s problem either, but don’t seem to cause any damage in the website itself.

              Can’t guarantee this is THE fix, but it worked for me and could be useful for people who don’t have complete access to their production server.

                Question of the day: Why does 1&1 torture it’s customers with such outdated technology? tongue

                  oops ! In fact I mistaken, the MySQL server is one of the 5.x releases... Mistaken with the php lib version. Yes kick me, I’m stupid ^_^

                  For a more complete answer on 1&1, the real reason is that i’m not paying it... There was a special offer 2 years ago offering some go of hosting, unlimited domain names and so on, for free... good arguments for a student, indeed

                    I’m so glad I found this thread. After spending a couple, no make that a few, hours trouble shooting MollioMenu on one of my older sites I was ready to quit. The menu was ordering by Document ID and not by menuindex no matter what I did. I, too, run Slackware 12 on my web server and upgraded MySQL from 5.0.37 to 5.0.51 back in late February per the Slackware ChangeLog security recommendations.

                    patches/packages/mysql-5.0.51-i486-1_slack12.0.tgz:
                      Upgraded to mysql-5.0.51.
                      This release fixes several bugs, including some security issues.
                      However, it also includes a potentially incompatible change, so be sure
                      to read the release notes before upgrading. It is possible that some
                      databases will need to be fixed in order to work with this (and future)

                    I fell back to the previous 5.0.37 and it fixed the problem as was previously stated by "1man" and "Alik". Thanks for posting the solution!
