Articles Import: How to import Wordpress Image Captions

Does anyone know how Articles import feature for Wordpress blogs handles image captions? I know Modx has no system for image captions, but if they can be inserted into the image tag I can use custom javascript to find that and display it appropriately. Has anyone even done this before while maintaining image captions?
