This is not an issue, which is why I’m not listing web server specs, MySQL version, etc. I’m using the latest stable MODx.
Basically, I have a main site nav with six sections. One of them is a member blog page section. On each member page, the sidebar is reserved to display images from each member’s folder with MaxiGallery. So it would have to be ’context-sensitive’, (bad analogy, but I think you know what I mean?)
However, when not viewing a member page, the visitor would be on the top level of the nav. In that case, I’d display showcase pictures, or other pictures related to the section. In fact, I could use the sidebar ONLY for pictures - with the exception of the front page index.php, where the standard ’Pages’ listing would be good.
In other CMSes (which I’d prefer to abandon) you’d make all ’modules’ and put them in the sidebar, then link individual ’modules’ to menu entries, which makes it display only the output that is relevant to the content in the sidebar. From reading the docs I understand that’s not how it’s done in MODx.
I guess I’m looking for some conditional insertion of snippet calls? How would you do something like that?
Here’s what I’m working on (wear eye protection as needed
