Open it in ff, click edit css, and there appear two menu items, there s no styling for ul or li element as far as i can see.

OK I will have a look at this. The odd thing is that the full styled nav nar appears when using the MODx manager - well some times it does. Grandchildren now here so I will work on this tonight or tomorrow. I appreciate the input with this puzzling issue.

I meant what does the source code look like when you only have the minimal wayfinder call? Without tpls or the css?
Also - double-check that all pages are published and none are set to Hide From Menus, and maybe make sure none are containers if they shouldn't be and are set as containers if they should be. And clear the manager cache and browser cache... (Sorry I know these are obvious but I usually get tripped up by the simple things.)

Like to thank every one especially Frank who steered me in the correct direction by reviewing Revolution permissions for that is where the error lay. I had partially set up permissions then became distracted by another task failing to realise their impact. On this occasion I can't blame the grandchildren. Mike
