Hi all,
I am pitching for my first real MODx project and the clients who want to edit the site are just like I said - ’MS Word savvy’. Anything more complex to fill and they will give up. So I need your help on the following:
1. I preferably don’t wish to give clients access to the backend but let them edit website info from the front-end itself. Can a manager user login from the front-end(not manager login) and edit content? Is there a plug-in to enable this? Or can a web-user do so?
2. If yes, on the products page, I wish to give client a form with the just following fields: Product Image, Product Name, Features, Description (in a way similar to ditto’s blog entry RTE). Is it possible to do so? how?
3. Can I make the main "Document Content" field invisible in the "edit document" page, with only the TVs showing while using certain templates - while editing the document from the manager login?
4. Can I use Ditto to collate non-chronological content like product information, (or restaurant menu for that matter) etc?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Hierarchical category based navigation is what Wayfinder is for, and it reflects the Document Tree structure you set up in the Manager with your document structure. And Ditto can be used for as many sections as you like (it’ll even combine sections if you want). I’m not sure if Wayfinder can use tags, but Ditto certainly does and can be used for simple menus. Between these two snippets (more like MODx applications, actually) you can display your site in just about any way you can imagine. Throw in MaxiGallery and there really isn’t much you can’t do right away in the way of presenting your information. You can mix-and-match and even embed the three in any number of ways. It’s probably already been done and has a Wiki article up on how to do it.
MODx is pretty easy (well, make that VERY easy) to code for. We’ve even got a few people here who have learned to program PHP by coding for MODx! And, of course, a there’s this very helpful community to fill in the blank spaces.
