    One more thing, just as a side question ^-^. Can I have special characters like _ in my field keys? Like is key="show_author" ok? Also I have seen a setup like this quite often and I'm not quite sure what it is for? I mean I have read the new documentation on version="1.1" models and I thought index was depreciated. Am i mixing stuff up?
    <index alias="name" name="name" primary="false" unique="false" type="BTREE">
            <column key="name" length="" collation="A" null="false" />
        </index>

    I'm just starting out in all this xml schema/mysql stuff so all your help is amazing. I almost feel badly for taking up all your time.But thank you all so much!

      Take a look at a similar table in the database, and you'll see the correlation between its indexes and lines like this.

      http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/mysql-indexes.html

      Here's a phpMyAdmin view of the indexes for the chunks table (site_htmlsnippets)

        Yes, underscores are OK. A number of MODX fields have underscores in their field names.
