I am researching the best way to set a user-specific base file-path, so that a special Manager account can access the file manager, but not have full file system access.

In my MODx Revo 2.2.10-pl system settings, I see this:

    File Manager Path (Deprecated)

But then in the online documentation, I see this:

    http://rtfm.modx.com/revolution/2.x/administering-your-site/settings/system-settings/rb_base_dir
This setting is deprecated in MODx Revolution. Please use filemanager_path instead.

So are both of these now deprecated in favor of Media Sources or some other convention?

    Thanks.

Yes, Media Sources are the replacement. The default media source is "Filesystem", which you can see in the Files tab. I usually modify it to restrict it to just the "assets" directory, though. Or else put Manager users into a group with a Media Source assigned to just the "assets" directory.

If you double-click on any of the settings you'll see a brief description.

          How do you do that?

          Settings where?

I do poke around in the software and online in the forums before asking questions... alas, I don't see how to accomplish these things.

            1. Go to Tools -> Media Sources and update (right-click on it to get the Update option) the default Filesystem Media Source and change its path and URL to assets/.

            2. Update the default Filesystem Media Source and in its Access Permissions tab assign it to the Administrator group. Then create a group for the rest of your users, and create a Media Source with its path and URL set to assets/. You can either assign that Media Source to your new group AND the Administrator group, or just leave it without a group assignment and everybody should be able to access it.

            3. System Settings.
