I was trying A2hosting and it was just terrible. I was made import into database from filesystem and it goes few hours. I check for other host and it goes just few minutes!

I was surpriced and finnaly I found performance test
12 queries per second mysql write
12 queries per second mysql update

which says you have to wait for whole day to make import into your db on A2hosting shared plans.

I check next days and get
32 queries per second mysql write
32 queries per second mysql update
    which is almost the same.

Other shared host which cost double less that Prime SSD gives me
5600 queries per second mysql write
5880 queries per second mysql update

What I can say now about A2 shared host as a web developer?

      Hi electroid,

I'm sorry to see you've already canceled - I don't see any tickets or communication to us about the issue, did you try and contact our support at all? The numbers you are showing are not reflective of our service level whatsoever, I am curious as to how you were trying to import the SQL, was it from the command line? I would appreciate if you could provide some more information about the situation so we can investigate.

      Thanks,
      Andy

        Hi, Andy!

I was contacting technical support and not a one time. Answer was is you are using shared host, so system can be that slow. I doesn't like that answer and request cancellation.

Goog thing I get money back (-minus 2 month, that's fine), bad thing I don't want try A2 again.

Performance test I do was into Russian CMS named Bitrix and it was installed on A2 hosting and other shared host. Import goes from files, first information from file goes into database table and after from that table system parse it to other tables.

        • Is there a reason why this is on the MODX forums?

Sure, I go for A2 hosting because it recommended by MODX. That day I work with other CMS, other day I will work with MODX, does it matter if you can't develop on that host?

            • Ok. I would have to say, though, that I've never seen anything like this.

Are you using prime SSD hosting? Are you trying to do large database import from filesystem or whatever?
