Need to parse resources by Template Variable

Our site is www.equipmentdaddy.com, our issue is this:

We have 2 ways of finding equipment on our site via navigating links, 1 is "By Type" and the other is "By Manufacturer". Currently when we add a new piece of equipment it gets placed into a moderation folder where a moderator will then place the item into the corresponding folder/container in the back-end. At that point, the equipment listing can be viewed by navigating by Type E.G.: HOME\EQUIPMENT BY TYPE\CRANES. (Equipment by Type is our default location for all equipment, with 86 total categories)

What we need to happen, without duplicating products in the back-end, is for that product to appear in the corresponding "Manufacturer" E.G.: LINK-BELT. So, the 1 piece of equipment needs to show up in 2 places, not 1

Example piece of equipment "1981 LINK-BELT CRANE 238A"

The piece is a "Crane" made by "LINK-BELT"

1) HOME\EQUIPMENT BY TYPE\CRANES
2) HOME\EQUIPMENT BY MANUFACTURER\LINK-BELT

Both "Type" and "Manufacturer" are Template Variables

We have around 90 types and over 4500 manufacturers. Is there a way, whether a visitor clicks through Type or Manufacturer from the homepage for a piece of equipment to show in 2 places?

I think the only way to do it as links is to use weblinks or symlinks.

I would be more inclined to use TV tagging, and have the tags in a sidebar or a "search by manufacturer" and "search by type" section on a page.
