This may turn into a rather lengthy post, but here it goes.
I have been running a site that I built from the ground up (
www.mxscentral.com) which is for a motocross game which hosts sponsored racing events of which I am now eagerly trying to move away from the custom built site an integrate it into MODx more as a pet project, but also need to have it done before March. Now I understand there is a bit of a learning curve involved and having not done a lot of dev work with MODx before I am looking for a little help getting to grips with the API etc.
So far I have done the following: http://dev.mxscentral.com
- Game servers post directly to the website as on current website but in seperate db tables
- User registration using Login / Profile etc
Functionality I need in MODx (that is currently on existing website) and for the future
- Ability for users to add an avatar to their profile from the front-end (about 90% there using formit2file)
- Ability for users to run events through the website through a front-end portal but manageable through the backend too

- Scripts will need to talk to the gaming servers through SSH - part done on existing website
- User created content uploads (tracks / skins / models / media etc)
- User team management where people can be invited, join etc
- Website news, Team news, User news
- Racing leaderboards as on the current site
- Server list - This could be done with MIGx probably
- Subscriptions - connected to a paypal account as I plan to add premium events to the website
There are a lot of permissions that I would need to setup which I am not sure is possible in MODx, like allowing some people to run the events, some people to only see portions of the page and others that would see everything etc etc.
I will no doubt need to update this, but hope that someone could point me in the right direction.
