Hi,
Is there a part of the docs where there's a general explanation about important parts, client and server side, and how they tick together? Diagrams, etc.
I haven't read it or know anything at all about this subject, but I guess the best place to find information like this is in Bob Rays book about modx.
Kind of bumping this because I am curious about this too.

I'm not sure what is meant by "client and server side". MODx just manages your site's content and generates requested pages. What is on those pages, and thus what the client (browser) does with them is entirely up to you.
I interpreted it as class diagrams and usecase diagrams.
