    Hi.

I have recently made the move from Evo to Revo, and I like what I've found. Reading through the forums here has been a great resource over the past 3 years as I've learned how to use MODx, and now I'm posting my first post here.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

I am using a custom topMenu.config.php file with Wayfinder, and it is working as expected to set the $outerClass, $rowClass, $firstClass, $rowTpl, $outerTpl, and $innerTpl variables.

for some reason, $startId and $debug do not set properly... setting $debug to 1 has no effect, and $startId only works if it is not set to 0... (it works as expected if set to an actual container resource ID.)

after spending a couple of days tinkering with it, I just now set the &debug value in the actual Wayfinder call, and I was glad to see the debug table suddenly appear, revealing that the startId was set to 1, when in fact my custom config file was setting it to 0.

so I added the &startId parameter to my Wayfinder call, and everything is now working properly.

this is what it's currently set to, and it's working properly:

    [[!Wayfinder? &config=`topMenu` &startId=`0`]]

my question is: why won't Wayfinder recognize the $startId and $debug variables in the topMenu.config.php file?

    I'm using Revolution 2.2.10-pl

    thank you in advance,

fwiw, I just reinstalled MODx to rule out any possibility of cross-plugin interference, but even without any other extras installed, the $startId variable is not recognized from within a custom config.php file.

      perhaps this is intended behaviour?

a whole week without a response from anyone... I'm a bit surprised, but I'm left to wonder if my problem is due to my own inexperience with using custom config files...

...so here's a simplified version of my question:

:: are the $startId and $debug variables invalid in a custom config.php file? in other words, is it a requirement that these are called from the Wayfinder snippet call as &startId and &debug?

Actually I doubt that very many people use a config file. Between property sets and the snippet properties, I haven't used one since I switched to Revo. I don't know why those two properties don't work.
