    hi (again...)
I am trying to make the websignup snippet to work but an error occurs. I have created a web user group named `blogger` and I call the snippet
    [!WebSignup? &groups=`blogger`!]
Everything works fine. When a user registers he is automatically assigned to the blogger group. but a window pops out with the following message:

    The http://dalab.ee.duth.gr site says:
    error when sending email to

I changed the default email in the configurations ([email protected]) to one of my emails I have in yahoo ([email protected])

    any ideas?

by the way, in the login snippet, the forget password? isn’t working too.

mod note: corrected for future search purposes: wedsignup -> websignup

It’s possible that your web host has the mail() function turned off. I don’t use that snippet so I don’t know how it sends mail or if it can be configured to use SMTP instead.

          Hello.

          But your Contact form work?

          Edit Contact Us:
          Must be something like:
          [!eForm? &formid=`ContactForm` &subject=`[+subject+]` &to=`[email protected]` &ccsender=`1` &tpl=`ContactForm` &report=`ContactFormReport` &gotoid=`46` !]

That way you see if mail is working.

          Regards,
          Cristian Nica

I found out that as said by Bob (who by the way is always right!!) the web host I am using has the mail() function turned off, so I need to make SMTP configurations.

The thing is I don’t know how to make those configurations. Is there some plug-in I could use?

@Cristian Nica: The eform is also not working (for the same reason I guess).
@Bob: What snippet are you using? Could it help me out too?

I think I will have the same problem with the Newsletter snippet and the rss, so anyone who knows how to make the SMTP configurations please help.

            Thank you all.

              xrisanthi,

The snippet that Bob is probably using, and the one that I personally use is WebLoginPE 1.3. (It’s actually based on WebLogin):

              http://modxcms.com/WebLoginPE-1.3.0-1661.html

It might seem a bit confusing at first and there are some bugs that need to be worked out, but it’s powerful and you can get it up and running fast. I’m a total non-programmer kinda guy and I’m doing alright with it (the forums are extremely helpful also...I don’t know where I’d be without this board). But long story short, I think WebLoginPE is your answer

Actually, I’m usually wrong. I’ve just been lucky with your questions. wink

The only site I have with a login uses the old weblogin snippet and it uses mail() successfully. There’s probably a way to configure WebLoginPE to use SMTP, but I’ve never used it. It probably uses phpmailer() which definitely has SMTP capability.

Sorry I can’t be more help.

                Bob
