Trying to get my head around the Doodles CMP tutorial and all the files and where they go and what they do and how they interact, it was hard to create a picture in my head.
So, being a visual person, I decided to draw a couple pictures. I attached 2 files. They are first drafts, so I am looking for some feedback on if they are technically accurate and helpful to others.
The diagrams were meant to help me understand the files and locations for the Doodles CMP tutorial, and then how I could use this file structure and information to build my own. This was for MODX Revolution 2.2 or greater. The 2.1 version is a little different with file names, locations, etc.
The diagrams are not meant to replace the Doodles CMP tutorial, but to augment it, with hopes to it easier to understand why things are located in there specific files. You will still need the tutorial for the file contents and their usage.
Please look over these and make sure I got this right, and if you can see any improvements. I am trying to keep this to a single page, and there is a lot of stuff, so there is only so much room.
Thanks in advance for the feedback!
They look very nice. I hate to think of how long they took to produce.
BTW, I did a blog post on CMP anatomy. It's seriously out of date with respect to MODX 2.2.x, but then (I think) so is the Doodles tutorial.

Yes, whatever you do, don't base your diagrams on that Article.
There's a good example of the new structure here:
https://github.com/modmore/Scheduler.
The core/ and assets/ directories at that link correspond to the MODX core/ and assets/ directories when it's installed.
BTW, what did you use to create the diagrams?
Great, I will look at scheduler.
I used OpenOffice Draw. It is pretty easy to use. I have used visio in the past, but this is a nice free alternative. What I like best for stuff like this is the connectors. You connect 2 objects together with a line and you can move the boxes around and they stay connected. Then you just clean up the lines.
