If I use Amazon S3 as a media source can I treat it like part of the filesystem?
Eg if I upload a video to it can I embed that video on a web page?

Yes, as long as you are using the Media Source to access it, for example as a TV.
OK, thanks, and presumably if I have a user file upload facility, the file can be saved to Amazon via the media source?

In my test, it worked. Hopefully it will for you as well, although I've only tried it on one occasion, and that was some time ago. I forget exactly what I did, but I could upload and download and stream.
