Huge numbers of "Language string not found:" entries in error log..

Can anyone tell me what these mean and how I can stop them from appearing?
I am trying to debug a snippet and this is not helping me.

Anyone out there?

I am still being plagued by this.

Currently a single page refresh, with a single snippet using a single tpl, generates over 56,000 lines as above. Admittedly this probably means I have an out of control loop somewhere, but this output doesn't help me find it.

OK, if anybody is reading this, for your amusement, I discovered the reason for my endless loop:

I had a snippet call and a form in a resource's content field.

I decided to move the content to a chunk and call that chunk with the snippet.

Unfortunately I forgot to remove the snippet call from my cut and paste, so it went into the chunk as well and, as a result, the snippet was recursively calling itself via $modx->getChunk(). I think I probably overheated my server slightly...


I would still like to know how to get rid of these "Language string not found: ..." error messages.

Are you working with MODX's debug turned on? Are you turning it back off at the end of the snippet?

Does your snippet do lexicon stuff (e.g., $modx->lexicon('lex_key'))?

I checked MODx's debug and it was blank. I changed that to 0, flushed permissions, logged out and in again and still got the same output.

No my snippet doesn't do any lexicon stuff either.

This is a very weird problem.

Many of the strings appear to belong to system setting descriptions and output modifier error messages. See if deleting all the files in the core/cache directory manually helps.

Repairing all tables in PhpMyAdmin is something else to try as is turning off the compress_js and compress_css system settings.

Running setup might also restore the lexicon files if they're missing.

If none of that works, I think I'd try deleting everything in the core/lexicon directory then running setup again.

Manually clearing the entire contents of the cache dir makes no difference.

My compress_js and compress_css system settings were already off. They had previously been set to on though, so I re-tried with them on and off again. No change.

I tried disabling snippets, I changed template to a simple default MODx page tpl, no change.

I ran setup again. All went without a hitch. But the problem remains. I guess setup doesn't change system settings, just replaces missing files?

Next I manually deleted the contents of the core/lexicon dir, ran setup again. Now I have another problem: all of the menu item strings have been replaced by their constant names. I check the core/lexicon dir and it hasn't been replaced. Hmmm. Sorted. It is a Plesk bug.

There must be debug set somewhere. I tried with debug in MODx system settings, setting to 0 and 1, but still no change.

Have you tried disabling all plugins?
