      You need to style the fieldset elements with border:none; in your CSS file.

        thanks Susan !

        but it’s not the borders around the fields..
        it’s much more simpler and so stupid I cann’t find it..

        the MODx basic installation has some contact-forms that draw an ugly fat border around the entire form..
        and I just cannot find where to un-style that

        I can present a screen-pict if I knew where/how

          as my documen does no more but calling an eForm, I suspect one of the installation-provided eForm-samples includes it somewhere.
          but I just can’t seem to find where & it drives me n...

            Hm. That sounds like the fieldset element. As far as i know, fieldset is mandatory in xhtml strict and is a container element to group other form-elements. By default, a border is drawn around these kind of elements.. you should be able to get rid of the visual appearance of the fieldset by writing the following into your css file:
            fieldset { border:0px; margin:0px; padding:0px; }

            I advise you to get Firebug. Its a awesome firefox extension that will help you with problems of this kind (and many more smiley)

              great !

              I just ran a multi-file search on the word: fieldset arriving at the same conclusion it being the surrounding element

              but I did not know about: "By default, a border is drawn around these kind of elements.. "

              your suggestion worked and I cannot descripe the feeling that finally getting rid of that ugly thing gave me
              waauw
              thanks so much !

                Hehe. Glad you figured it out, even though sottwell already pointed it out.

                These are not "default border tricks" in any way. It’s just how most of todays browsers render a fieldset element by default. There is a "default" Style for all HTML Elements only waiting to be overwritten by a stylesheet rolleyes
