Hi Guys
I'm using TwitterX on a busy site, I keep getting an error message "Rate Limit Exceeded". I have TwitterX snippet call uncached and the cache parameter set at 7200 (default).
Any ideas?
Hi,
Twitter limits the number of requests to their API to about 150. This error message is them warning you that you have exceeded this. If you have specified the cache parameter this should only make this request once.
How quickly does this message appear? I.e. Is it immediately?
Hi Stewart,
The error is intermittent, however, the error is visible more than not. Especially now, as the site has an upsurge this time of year, approximately 10-15 unique visitors every minute.
My snippet call looks like this....
[[!TwitterX?
&twitter_consumer_key=`xxx`
&twitter_consumer_secret=`xxx`
&twitter_access_token=`xxx`
&twitter_access_token_secret=`xxx`
&limit=`1`
&timeline=`user_timeline`
&chunk=`tweet_chunk`
&cache=`7200`
&screen_name=`username`
&include_rts=`0` ]]
I've tried this, still getting the same error message from Twitter?
This won't clear the error at Twitter's end but it will stop making as many requests. Can you try this tomorrow (when the limit is reset) and see if it works?
