Hello all,
Please forgive me, this may be a newbie problem, I have just started working with ModX Revolution.
So I have the following structure (roughly)
web (context)
+---- Home (Container)
| +---- About Us
+---- StartUps (Container)
| +---- Planning (Container)
| +---- Creating A Plan (Article)
| +---- Ideas
+---- ... (you get the picture)
So now, each of the top level containers (Home, StartUps, etc..) I have attached a template that will nicely draw up the page listing sub containers at the top and latest articles (from all subcategories) below, at least that is the theory.
Now the problem I am encountering is that I am unable to view any pages (besides the homepage)
StartUps for example has an alias of: start-ups -> so it should go to http://mywebsiteurl/start-ups/
The link on the menu is correct, but when it tries to load the page, I just get a 404 Error instead. (And yes I do have fancy urls turned on as well in the backend manager settings)
The container is type 'Document', and is published as well.
I am not quite sure what I am doing wrong at this point, does it have something to do with being a container?

Ok, so that didn't quite work as planned for my little drawing
Home (Document/Container) -> About Us (Document/Article)
StartUps (Document/Container) -> Planning (Document/Container) -> Creating A Plan (Document/Article)
StartUps (Document/Container) -> Ideas (Document/Container)
...

Well I have found the solution, and am posting it in hopes that it helps someone else who encounters this problem.
Apparently I need to improve my reading skills because the answer was right in front of me:
When you turn on the Friendly Url's it states to make sure when you enable this feature you need to write an .htaccess file.
So I copied the ht.access file to -> .htaccess and then reloaded the web server (not sure that was necessary but did it for good measure).
Also to note: (which I had already done), make sure your apache configuration is set to utilize the .htaccess file.
