OK, I am having a weird problem. I am making a site for my wife who is a professor. I created a document that consisted of a list of links, simple <href>’s. This is so the students can download the chapter power points. In the document content I decided not to use the tinymce editor, so I hard coded it all. My wife will use the tinymce editor when she wants edit things. I tested all the links locally and all was good. Now for the funny part, I tested it all again a few minutes later and ALL the links are gone. The text portion of the links are still there, but the <href>’s are gone. This doesn’t make sense. Something caused MODx to erase all the link code in that particular document. Has anyone experienced something similar.
This is a pretty wild guess with so little to go on, but possibly you made a mistake in the html that didn’t show up right away because you were looking at a cached version of the page.
My first move when things suddenly turn weird is to submit the page to WC3 validation:
http://validator.w3.org/ by first putting in the URL of the page, then (if that’s no help) by cutting and pasting the page contents from the editor into this form:
http://validator.w3.org/#validate_by_input
It’s good to know that your HTML is correct before digging deeper.
BTW, you *did* turn off the rich text editor on the document editing page in the MODx Manager to edit in raw HTML, right? Otherwise the RTE will assume you want to *display* the HTML rather than execute it.
Hope this helps,
Bob
