htaccess in manager

    hello,

    MODX evolution 1.0.12

    in the foler manager is a htaccess-file with the following:

    # For unexpected logouts in multi-server/cloud environments see:

RewriteEngine Off

<IfModule mod_security.c>
# Turn the filtering engine Off
SecFilterEngine Off
</IfModule>


    is it necessary to activate (replace the dot forward) this file or what does this?

      It's optional.

      It does 2 things:
      - Disable the friendly urls in the /manager/ directory
      - Disable mod_security. If mod_security is on the server it can sometimes refuse to save certain things when it matches a pattern, which can be really annoying in the manager.

        conclusion that i can make is that it is best to activate then?

        certainly for the friendly urls
