    the message means that your connexion character set is empty. So you need to set your $database_connection_charset with the correct value.
    For you this value could be ’latin1’ if you have installed your database by default or utf8 if you use UTF-8 character set.

    So, first change $database_connection_charset = ’’;
    by $database_connection_charset = ’latin1’; and try it first on your local environment.
    If it doesn’t work try the value ’utf8’

      I can’t really say why this is happening but the AjaxSearch 1.7 seems to work great here http://dalab.ee.duth.gr/~pg249/modx-0.9.6.1/index.php?id=3
      but not here
      http://dalab.ee.duth.gr/~pg249/modx-0.9.6.1/index.php?id=10

      though I make the same call in both cases

      huh huh huh huh

      I guess it’s got something to do with the template...I hope its not as unstable as it seems. (Note: suddenly the first link works in IE7 too!!!!)
      Very confusing...

      I think what you’re seeing is not instability, but the effects of the site cache and browser cache. You fixed the problem, but the browser showed you a cached version of the page from before you fixed it.

      In MODx: Site | Clear Cache - to clear the MODx cache.

      In IE7: Tools | Delete Browsing History - then click on the top button (delete temporary internet files) will clear the cache.
      In FF: Tools | Clear Private Data | Cache | Clear Private Data Now

      Note: Don’t clear the cookies or you will be logged out of the MODx Manager.

      There’s no reason to clear the actual browsing history (Even though IE7 makes you select that to get to the right window).
