Been there, done that. In fact, this very issue was what got me my first "official" login to be able to edit the original MODx site's pages. Over the years, that has shifted and changed, and I haven't had that kind of access for some years now.
As far as forum posts go, of course those are more in the nature of conversations, and one does not look for polished grammar and spelling. But on a main web site an appearance of professionalism is part of any corporation's public face.

This is the pain of TinyMCE and user editing! Spelling errors, dots for linebreaks, no formatting rules etc.
Funny that there are tools to generate spelling errors:
