KCFinder for file uploads

I just upgraded a site from Evolution 1.0.10 to 1.0.12 and I'm having a problem with CKEditor and KCFinder.

When I try to add a linked file in CKEditor, I click on the Browse Server button in the Link dialog. This opens a KCFinder window with the images directory. I want to add the file into the files directory, but there's no way to navigate to it.

Is it just me or is anyone else having this problem? I can't upload files with KCFinder to anywhere in the assets directory outside the images directory. I'm having to upload my files via FTP as a workaround until I can figure out a fix.

Looking at the config file for kcfinder, it looks like its hardcoded (read restricted for users).
