Are static resources allergic to framesets?

Hi,

a customer of mine, a dancing club, has a new software for analyzing the results of competitions. This program can also export a bunch of HTML files showing the list of the competing couples, the marks of the judges and so on. The main file is a frameset holding a small menu on the left and the content on the right side.

For every competition the club has hosted, there's a news story, and there should be a link to the frameset. This of course works if I link directly to the uploaded index.htm, but then the URL would be quite different from the one of the story. Just an example:

Story: www.club-domain.tld/news/eventname
Results of competition: www.club-domain.tld/topturnier/2013-11-09/ot_hgrbstd

I'd like to place the results here:

www.club-domain.tld/news/eventname/results

So I created a static resource with the alias "results" within news/eventname, chose an empty template, selected the index.htm file as source and saved the static resource; then I opened it in the browser. The result was an empty page; there's not a single character in the source code.

When I choose one of the other files - no frameset, just a plain HTML file -, everything works just fine.

Is there anything I don't understand? I thought a static resource just reads the contents of the file and then outputs it, whatever it is...

Content type and content disposition are correct (HTML / inline). The original frameset file doesn't validate (wrong DOCTYPE and some other minor errors), but it works just fine if called directly; I also tried a corrected version, even a newly written, with a different filename etc., but without success.

Could anyone think of anything that makes MODX choke when using a static resource with a frameset?

I tested it with MODX Revolution 2.2.10 on a Linux webserver (PHP 5.3.26, MySQL 5.5.28) as well as on my local Windows 7 system (XAMPP with PHP 5.3.8 and MySQL 5.0.8 - I really need to update my system...).

Any hints are greatly appreciated!

thanks for testing this. I'd understand it if the frames itself were empty because of wrong URLs, but there isn't even the smallest trace of the frameset HTML itself...

I'll sleep over this, maybe I'll have a flash of inspiration when I'm not as tired as I'm now...

Hm, I just tested it in a MODX Cloud installation that I only used for a few tests. There it works, too. Seems that I have somehow screwed up the two installations I tested it with (the local one is some kind of a mirror of the remote one; I'm using it for development and testing).
