TinyMCE http 500 error

Description of Problem:
Tiny mCE gives an 500 error when I want to add an image and open the image browser KCFinder
- Folder attributes are 755 for the folders: images, Flash and media
- No problems with media or Flash
- Possible to upload an image with Manage Files
- The bug was introduced after updating from Modx version 1.0.6 to 1.0.12

Steps to Reproduce:
Edit page
add immage
Browse
KCFinder opens and shows in both frames "Unknown error." Development tools reveals it is an http 500 error

Expected Outcome:
KCFinder opens and shows the content of the image folder

• MODX Version: 1.0.12
• PHP Version: 5.3.15
• Database (MySQL) Version: 5.0.95
• Additional Server Info: Shared hosting
• Installed MODX Add-ons: Standard
• Error Log Contents: (attach as file if it’s too large)

Double check your configuration of the file manager; in the Tools > Configuration then select the File Manager tab. Verify that your first input field for File Manager Path is correct for the environment. Then go into the Interfaces & Features tab, then scroll down about half way and check the File Base Path information. Let us know what you find.

I had the same issue upgrading from 1.0.10 to 1.0.12.

My issue was related to some code in the htacess file that I did not change from 1.0.10 and below...

I needed to upgrade this older code:

to the updated code:

Thank you for your reply.

In those fields there are the default values [(base_path)] and [(base_path)]assets/ being used.

I tried the absolute path /var/www/html/assets but this doesn't solve the problem neither.
Again the problem does not occur with media and flash oddly enough

I have tried this, but the .htaccess was already the new version. (the old version didn't help btw.)

No worries.

Ah ok. For me it was definitely htaccess based - there was another piece of code which caused issues for me.

I am not a programmer or anything.

The way that I troubleshot it was to totally clear my browser cache, remove the htaccess file and turn off friendly urls.

At this stage for me, image insertion in the RTE started working again.

Then I commented out the rules in the htaccess file and reintroduced them one by one until I found the culprit.

Maybe that method might help you too?

Otherwise, you might need to call in the big guns (read, not me).

Are you logged into the manager using www and have htaccess rewrite it?
