Restricting upload file size in formit

I have a massive issue with people attaching large images in my formit form - a completely blank page is simply displayed! I am trying therefore to restrict the file size that people are allowed to upload and so far have only come across this post: https://forums.modx.com/thread/47709/formit-with-attachment-max-file-size-and-limit-file-type.

Does anyone else have any ideas or suggestions on how to do this as i can't get the above to work? The above is also a few years old, so there may be a better way to do this now?

Just incase anyone else is trying to do the same thing, i did get the validation of the file size to work using this great thread: https://forums.modx.com/thread/47709/formit-with-attachment-max-file-size-and-limit-file-type. I had just forgotten to update the field name in the snippet
