How to access TV's list type property in code?

Hey folks,

I have got one simple question, Google did not help me so far.

Situation: a TV with a custom property of type "List" exists. I created some property options (entries for that list, right?). So, now when I try to access one specific list item in the code I assumed it works similar to something below.

e.g. from the TV default value field:

or when calling the TV from outside and override item value:

Nothing happens, so I am surely on the wrong track.
Could someone help me out here?

Taking a step back. What are you trying to accomplish with your TV?

I don't really understand, what you're using custom properties for.
