I have a project which requires a directory of products/items; a bit like the MODX Extras section. The items aren't for sale, its just for reference.

I don't really want to use hundreds of Resources for this; but I was considering repurposing Articles.

Has anybody seen a good solution or a suitable plugin for creating a large directory using MODX?

Sounds interesting, I've never been able to get the MIGXdb side of MIGX working. Which tutorial would you suggest is best for the directory:

        Or another one?

Do you prefer to have them as Resources or items of a custom-table?
Do you want to manage them in a Resource with a TV or would you like to have a CMP to manage them?

I think personally, I would put them in a custom-table.
Than this may be a good start:

Well, what's the benefit of having them as Resources or just as a custom-table?

Could extra data fields easily be added to a custom-table MIGX like adding a TV to a Resource?

Would SimpleSearch or one of the other search engine plugins still be able to search though the directory if everything was stored in a custom-table?

This is the first time I've really properly played around with the MIGX-DB stuff - I've used the MIGX TVs for a long time to make multi image TV galleries; but the CMP/DB stuff looks to be very powerful.

I have completed some of the tutorials; I have a CMP displaying some Resources with some filters. I also have a TV called "keywords" using the Auto-Tag TV type on all my Resources; what I'd like to do next is display only Resources with one particular keyword.

Where do I set this in the many MIGX config settings?

do you want to have text-input or a listbox for the tag-filter?

This wouldn't be a filter at the top of the grid; the results would already be filtered.

For example the client could tag a page with the "country" keyword, then go to this CMP grid it would be in the list.

If I understand correctly then DB-Filters would be for filtering the results already in the grid; but I'd want to load pre-filtered Resources into the grid to start with.

One idea I had (but I could not get it working) would be to put a "where" statement on the MIGXdb-Settings tab, but I couldn't figure out how to do something like: {"keyword-tv":"keyword-name"} [ed. note: AdamWintle last edited this post 12 years, 11 months ago.]

                    I'm not sure to understand.
Are you talking about a MIGXdb-TV-grid inside a Resource-Editing-Form and you want to show only Resources in that grid, which have the same tag in a TV like the currently edited Resource?

Can you tell a bit more about your situation?

I have a site with over 1,500+ resources; organising all this content is a bit tricky. The primary system we use is what we call "portals" which are like broad topics within the subject of the website.

Each portal is selected from a TV on a resource, which looks like this:

The TV for this is called "portals" and has the input type of Check Box and the following Input Option Values:
                      Advertising==advertising||Art & Design==art-design||Children's==childrens||Countries==countries||Editor's Picks==promote||History==history||Manufacturers==manufacturers||Manufacturing Processes==manufacturing-processes||Political==political||Reviews==reviews||Souvenir==souvenir||All Other Subjects==subjects||Tarot & Fortune Telling==tarot-fortune

I can then use this to make various lists and category pages, the Countries portal is the most popular and contains the most resources.

I've setup a CMP, but its loading all of the 1,500+ resources, which looks like this:

What I wanted to build is a CMP to just help manage all the resources in the countries portal.

Is it possible make the CMP's grid to only load similar to the way getResources can do &tvFilters=`portals==%countries%`
