I have searched the archives, but just can’t seem to find any answers to my 2 questions:

    1. People are being able to leave comments on my blog WITHOUT even registering or logging in to the site first. Please Help!! I run a business and somebody(s) are leaving nasty spam comments. I had to go in and delete over 100 of them.

    2. When I login and add a new blog entry, it wont show up immediately. I have to first login to the Manager, click on edit, then save, then it finally shows up. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong here?

Thanks so much for any help! smiley

About comment spam, how about using captcha with Jot ( &captcha=`1` ) ?

And about blog posting, I suppose you are using NewsPublisher snippet.
      So try &clearcache=`1`.

Ok, well, I got the captcha to work, but you can still leave a comment without having to login first. I have no idea how to fix this...can anyone help?

Do you mean the captcha image is displayed, but you can post comments without inputting security code printed on the captcha image ?
I mean automated spamming can not read text printed on the captcha image, so they can not leave comments.
            But human beings can !

If you need user validation, check &trusted option.

And the Jot article on the wiki provides some examples.

No.... The problem here is not the captcha, its that the comment form is allowing anyone to leave a comment, without registering or logging in first.
If you go to my website at www.clancycreations.com, click on the link in the top menu that says "News Blog" and then try to leave a comment, it will let you. That is what I DONT want to happen. I want you to have to register first or login, BEFORE you can leave any comments....am I making any sense? smiley

              Thanks,

Ok, well, am hoping that I fixed it. I just added "&canpost=`Registered Users, Site Admins`" to the comments chunk and now it will only let you post if you are logged in. It wont even show the comment form now. So, I am guessing that is how its suppose to work? I am confused about what the difference is in the chunks - "Comments" and "FormBlogComments" and when to use what?

                  Sorry, I just meant &canpost, not &trusted...

I’m a new MODx user so I don’t know much about it, but "FormBlogComments" is rather older version for the comment chunk.
You can see ’UserCommnet’ snippet in it. It is old commenting snippet and now Jot replaced it, I believe...
