Please help need to develop category tag

I have a requirement. I have multiple category and I want to add specific category as tag into each document, How can I do that by using template variable. Also if any other method are available can any one help with this.

Please help.

Resources, custom-table, a MIGX-TV or just a fix list of categories?

You would just add a listbox-TV with categories as input-option-values to your resource's template.

Thank for your reply.
The category is all the child resources under a parent resource. What I want to do is that I want to create a list of all the child resources under a parent resource and use checkbox to select those child and populate in front end as tag.

Now can you help me to create this or can give any example from where I can do this.
