Answered change default template?

Is there any way to do that? I assume that the ordering in done by the ID. Is there any way to change a resource ID (without directly messing with the DB)? Thanks.

To your second question, since the id field is autoincrement, you can't change that without messing with the db. Out of curiosity, why are you interested in changing it?

Yes, I had two questions, as the second derived from the first.

Thank you kindly. I see that the system setting screen gives a list of templates to choose from. So easy, and after a "Clear cache" I am done. (I now know to search in system settings for any related changes I'd like to make.)

I'd also asked if I can change a resource ID, thinking maybe someone had maybe written a Snippet to do that. But it's no big deal after all.

Hi, stalemate. Since default ordering is done by ID, I'd thought that changing ID would work if no other avenue was available. But I have changed the system setting as advised and now all is fine.

Ok. Thanks for letting me know!

It looks like I spoke a bit too soon in saying that 'all' is fine.

If I right-click a resource folder and select 'Quick Create', then my setting for default template is in effect. But I can't set TVs that way.

If I instead click the icon for 'New Document', I do get my defined default template but the new doc does not automatically go into the selected folder.

OTOH, if I right-click a folder then choose Create >> Create Document Here, then I'm back to getting the Basic Template by default. Seems like a bug, I'd report that if I were familiar with the but reporting setup here... maybe another day.

If you add a document to a folder, then it inherits the template of the folder / parent. Does that help?

Hey, that does help. The parent folder really doesn't want the child's templating, but I can use conditionals to remove any templating that I don't want the folder to display. Thanks, Jim!

Hmm. Evo for some time has had a system setting to allow "use default", "inherit from parent" or "inherit from sibling". I'm a little surprised that didn't get carried over to Revo.
