When logged into the manager, you can view any page just fine. When logged out, only the home page can be viewed, no matter what URL you try, only the home page appears. In system settings, error_page and unauthorized_page is set, but even those aren't shown if you use an invalid url.

There are two main admin users with all the default stuff. Like I haven't touched resource groups or access policies or media sources or any of that, it's all default. The only thing not default is a 2nd user was created.

Does anyone have any idea what I could do to fix this, or at least lead me in some direction? BTW, the site used to work and go to other pages just fine. I'm not sure at what point it stopped working. We just noticed it today while trying to add a 404 page. It's a very small site too, just a few pages.

First off, are you 100% sure the other pages are published? Unpublished pages are still visible to logged in users.

Secondly, go to Access Controls and check that the anonymous user group has Context Access:
      Context: web
      Minimum Role: Member - 9999
      Access Policy: Load Only

Yep, 100% sure. Even unpublished and republished and made a new page, thinking perhaps the others had gone wonky. Also the Access Controls are exactly what you described. I did a side-by-side with another site to make sure it was all default stuff and nothing changed.

Nope! Tried doing all of that. Still only worked when logged in.

Another thing to check is the Context settings in the System drop down menu. Check the web context settings in the Access Permissions tab. There should be 2 entries, one for user group: Administrators, one for user group: (anonymous). That one should have Authority: 9999, Access Policy: Load Only

Administrator group should have Authority: 0 - Access Policy: Administrator

Also check the MODX error log and your server error log and see what errors are being thrown up. Secondly turn off the new 404 settings.

I am having a similar problem. The only difference is that I every page except the home are not available even when I am logged into manager.

I have tried using the demo template that came with the installation package, still no luck.

My access policies are as defined in the previous post. I have not been able to find the maintenance mode so I don't know it that the problem.

Thanks in advance for your help

Maintenance mode is in the System Settings, in the Site section. It's called 'site_status', yes for online and no for offline. However, manager users should still be able to see the entire site even when it's offline.

Is your home page set as your error (not-found) page? The first thing I do when installing MODX is to create a new 404 resource and set it to be the error page. That way it eliminates any confusion as to where you're going.
