Hi, what do I change on LAMP shared hosting so that my modx install (done via Softaculous) into public_html/modx can be accessed by the URL of http://example.com, rather than the way it is accessed now at http://example.com/modx ? Thanks.
Thanks for the replies. I was tied up with writing my content for a while, but finally did perform the move just now. (Actually, I copied from public_html/modx to public_html so that I would have the original install to fall back on. Maybe that's a factor?)
Everything seems fine, including FURLs, except that now I am constantly getting the timed-out dialogue in the center of the screen ("Your session has expired. Please proceed to login again."). The dialogue might pop up every minute, then not appear for many minutes. Clearing Cache and Flushing Permissions doesn't help. Any ideas on what went wrong? I've double-checked that I've successfully removed every reference to the old path. I've never seen that dialogue until after the move.
Another behavior seems new, IIRC: previously, whenever I switched tabs in the manager between Resources/Elements/Files, I'd have to wait every time for a tab to load again. But now, when I switch tabs it often instantly changes without loading. Again, that doesn't seem time-based, so sometimes it doesn't load but then suddenly it will load on each tab change. I can't determine what the trigger is.
Make sure that your browser cache and cookies are cleared for the domain. The manager logouts sound like you're flipping between domains/subdomains, so it never knows if you're logged in or not. You also might try enabling the .htaccess in the /manager/ directory to turn off mod_rewrite in the Manager.
