[solved] Cannot insert image using the WYSIWYG rich text editor in Evo 1.0.12

Hello,

In Evo 1.0.12 when attempting to insert an image in the content area using the standard WYSIWYG rich text editor, an error page is thrown - its impossible for me to insert an image through the RTE at the moment.

I have changed the Manager name in my test site and thought it was related to that - but in a fresh install with the Manager name unchanged I also receive an error page.

In my test site with changed Manager name, I see my standard error page with the following link in the popup window:

In the fresh install, I see "403 Permission Denied. You do not have permission for this request" with the following link in the pop up window:

Any ideas what I can do to fix this?

I am definitely able to insert an image / file directly in a TV. The link I see in the pop up window is much shorter, and it points to the newer file browser:

It seems that TV image insertion uses the newer file browser - whereas RTE image insertion uses the older file browser.

A secondary question: Is there a way to get the RTE to use the newer file browser without hacking anything?

Hm. No problems with that here, it must be something with the file permissions on your site. Where is this hosted? What OS on the host? I ran into a similar problem once when the host had security settings that did not allow any scripts to run from more than 4 levels deep, and TinyMCE needed at least 6 levels. The hosting tech support changed their rule, and all was well.

This happens with two different sites on two different hosts, one site of which was upgraded from 1.0.10 and for which the server has not changed and that was working before and the only thing that has changed is the Evo version upgrade to 1.0.12, and I have never had this problem before - not with 1.0.10 right down to 0.9.6.

The links (separated on new lines for readability) in 1.0.10 and 1.0.12 are a little different...

I am not sure if this could affect it, but I see that the 1.0.10 "Connector path" starts with /manager...
(Connector=/manager/media/browser/mcpuk/connectors/php/connector.php)

...whereas the 1.0.12 "Connector path" starts with the domain
(Connector=http://domain.com/m2anager/media/browser/mcpuk/connectors/php/connector.php)

The server operating system that one of the sites is on is Linux version 2.6 and PHP version 5.2. Not sure if that helps any? [ed. note: nickf08 last edited this post 12 years, 11 months ago.]

Could there be some TinyMCE files missing?

I have noticed that if I type this in my browser it returns an error page:
http://domain.com/m2anager/media/browser/mcpuk/connectors/php/connector.php

When I checked my Evo 1.0.12 files, I noticed that "connectors/php/connector.php" does not exist anywhere in my mcpuk folder - eg no connectors folder, no php folder and no connector.php file.

I checked a fresh download of 1.0.12 from the MODX site, and they are also not in there either.

When I checked my Evo 1.0.10 files however, those files do indeed exist in the folder structure.

Could that be the issue? If so, how to resolve it given those files appear not to be submitted with the 1.0.12 zip download?

On that url I also don't have that file and container/map and on an old evo does.

I have no problem with insert an image in evo 1.0.12 so there must be something else.

Out of interest: when you upgraded to 1.0.12, did you overwrite existing files or do a clean install?

The reason I ask is that my upgrades were both clean installs so if those files were missing from the zip, they would not be included in the assets folder.

However, if overwriting existing Evo files, those missing TinyMCE MCPUK files from the 1.0.12 package exist for 1.0.10 and below and therefore would remain in the TinyMCE MCPUK folder.

Can I ask a favour? Would you mind renaming the existing TinyMCE MCPUK folder in your assets/snippets manager/media/browser/mcpuk folder (so that you can easily revert it back) - and then uploading the TinyMCE MCPUK folder that comes with the 1.0.12 package and let me know if you can still insert an image in the TinyMCE RTE. I haven't done a upgrade yet to 1.0.12.

Leaving work right now so no time to check.

So you would like to see on a 1.0.10 version if the 1.0.12 version of MCPUK works?

This is only related to 1.0.12. It works fine for me in previous Evo versions.

The opposite actually. I am interested to see if you could insert an image in the RTE in a fresh install of 1.0.12 (eg without overwriting 1.0.10 files). I don't have the connectors folder, php folder or connector.php file in mcpuk in my version of 1.0.12 and wonder if the issue is because they are missing??

On a clean install of 1.0.12 I can insert images with no problems.
