Answered [solved] Evo 1.0.12 - how to customise the manager url

    Hello,

    I see in the Evo 1.0.12 official release page reference to an exciting addition to "customize the Manager URL". This is super.

    How do we actually do it? Are there any instructions anywhere for this?

      It looks like it gets defined in /assets/cache/siteManager.php
      define("MGR_DIR", "manager");

      In the index.php file it looks for this file to define MGR_DIR, and if it doesn't find the file sets a default:
      $base_path = str_replace('\\','/',dirname(__FILE__)) . '/';
if(is_file($base_path . 'assets/cache/siteManager.php'))
    include_once($base_path . 'assets/cache/siteManager.php');
if(!defined('MGR_DIR') && is_dir("{$base_path}manager"))
define('MGR_DIR','manager');

      Likewise the /manager/index.php will determine its own location, if necessary using the same /assets/cache/siteManager.php or if all else fails again using "manager".

        Hi Sottwell,

        That's excellent, thanks for your help. I see how it works, what a great enhancement

        I have changed the manager address and that seems fine. I can login and change pages etc.

        I note though that the siteManager.php file is missing the closing "?>". Is that intentional? [ed. note: nickf08 last edited this post 12 years, 11 months ago.]

          PHP files do not require a closing ?> tag. If there is one, a single line feed or any white space after the tag will crash the script. So most developers omit the closing tag to avoid the possibility of such a problem.
