So interestingly enough - I have modx installed and running well on an solaris iplanet server. My current issue is getting iplanet to recognize url rewrites and redirects inside of the htaccess file. Basically iplanet has a limited capability with htaccess. Anyone out there got any suggestions? Or another way to get the re-writes working properly from php/modx without htaccess?

Zero experience with iPlanet, but it seems like there should be a way:

      - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19146-01/821-1828/gcxyy/index.html

though the amount of unanswered posts like http://forum.modrewrite.com/viewtopic.php?t=3016 make me skeptical.

Maybe get in touch with your host, and ask them for available options?

        Thanks Mark,

The issue is that Oracle bought SUN Systems and has basically eliminated all open source product and support. They've set out cease and desist letters to companies and forums that have open source files and support as well. Basically, even though the product is still available they offer no help or support for using other open source software either. In the end, I think Oracle will eventually fall out of the server market because of this - but whateve. I ended up running xampp on solaris in addition to iplanet so I could have the url rewriting.

        Oracle smells like poop.
