A designer/developer from Serbia just sent me a link to this site for testing responsive designs. Even works with localhost URL!

Chris Pederick's web developer extension has added responsive views too.

Well, even with these excellent aids to testing responsive and mobile designs, I still enjoy having my toys.
Using my MacBook as a dev environment meant I had to make some entries in my "hosts" files - using localhost doesn't work for my mobile devices. I have to use the IP address assigned by the router. Then if pages got cached while working on the Mac, the links are to localhost. What to do?
Well, I have a couple of apps on my mobile devices. On my phone I have one called "Superuser" to give root access when needed, and one called "Hosts Editor" (I just downloaded the one with the most stars). So now I can use whatever I like as my local dev server domain.
@bwente: except that you mentioned it, I had no idea chris had added responsive. Beautiful!
@sottwell: too many maneuverings. I guess you had those setup before responsive tools became ubiquitous. Old toys are hard to shelve!
Both: If you are to advice on the best book, tutorial, video that get you up and running with developing responsive which would be?
A couple I've seen go into too much theory and history, my staff need catch up faster.

I have to agree there. Toys are fun, but sometimes we just need to get something done.
And after doing a bit of research, I found out that for those apps to work on the phone it had to be rooted first. I certainly didn't root it, nor did I install the Superuser app. Supposedly this phone was bought new at a large electronics store, but I have my doubts. Hopefully it's no worse than a grey-market phone that was rooted before shipping or sale. I'd hate to think it had been stolen at some point.
