    Hi to all,
I am considering MODx for my project and I have following features on mind. I will be happy if any of you can comment on my below requirements and how MODx supports them.

    Any other feedback is welcome.

I will post more questions as and when they come to my mind.

    MODx Questions :-

    - Should be able to handle VERY HIGH TRAFFIC websites. (Lets say 5,00,000 members or more and thousands of people being online at same time)

What are the mechanisms in MODx that enable the website to handle high traffic. Is there special care taken to handle the performance issues ?

    - Should be SEO friendly

What are features of MODx that support SEO ?

    - Should be able to create custom forms

How easy it is to create custom forms in MODx ? Is it possible to create a form and then store the user entered data in a data base table and / or send the user entered data in the form of mails ?

    - Should be able to assign a post to multiple categories.

Something like - associating many tags to a post and then put those tags in the menu items, so that all posts related to that tag word can be obtained by clicking on that menu item (tag)

    - Should be a combination of CMS + Blog + Forum

Please comment on MODx blog features. How advanced it is (compared to Wordpress - lets say) ?

    - Should provide integration with a forum (Preferably Vbulletin / IPB)

I know MODx integrates with SMF forum.
But Is there any bridge available to use Vbulletin / IPB as forum along with MODx application ?

    - Good mailing list component

Admin should be able to specify different mailing lists. The users (when joining) should be able to select which mailing list they want to subscribe (instead of receiving all irrelevant mails to him), and then should be able to change his preferences any time. The ‘mailing’ feature should support sending mails only to the people who subscribed to particular list.

Is there a way to do the above in MODx ?

    - Should be able to handle spam very well

What are the advanced features to avoid spam memberships / posts ?

    - Easy to integrate advertisements

How easy it is to integrate AdSense in MODx ? Is it flexible ? Any tutorials / guidance available for that ?

    - Video Plugins

Is it possible to link YouTube (or any other) videos in MODx posts ?

      Suri.CMS:

Sounds like you need a product with everything already built for you. MODx is more of a framework, where you can bring your own custom content and code to the table, and easily mash it up the way you want to. There are add-ons for some of these things, but most would require some PHP expertise to implement and integrate all the things you listed here. Consider carefully if you want a pre-built community portal site, like you can get with Joomla! and many other CMS solutions out-of-the-box, or a toolbox of building blocks to construct something unique with. The latter is what you will get with MODx; along with a great community.

      Cheers and good luck...

Assuming Jason’s assumption is correct, and I draw the same conclusion as he does, MODx would not be a good fit without getting your hands very dirty and based on your user-load requirement. MODx is not targeted at the YAPS market, though I suspect one day we’ll have a YAPS distribution (Yet Another Portal System).

Thanks a lot Jason for quick clarifications.

I do understand what is told here. For my particular project, I needed above functionalities almost out of the box as I didn’t have much time to get my hands on coding.
I was just checking the possibilities here, as MODx attracted my interest mainly because of great community support.

In fact, I did extensive research on various CMS, their features, capability, scalability, community support, user feedback...for few months and MODx definitely got into my very few (5 or 6) finalists.

Looks like MODx does not suit my this particular project where I want everything out of box, but I am sure I will come back here to use MODx for forth-coming projects where I will have some time to get my hands on coding laugh

Cheers !! And keep up the great community support !!
