Hello,
in evolution version 1.0.12 there is a folder called '.thumbs' in folder 'assets'.
because i'm not allowed to have files and folders on my hosting that starts with '.', i can't install modx because folder .thumbs has to be writable, but there is no file.
is there a solution for this problem?

That might make it hard to use htaccess then. I recommend a new hosting company.

I would be interested to know what your current host has against files/folders starting with '.', considering it's very common for .htaccess among other things.
I'd second Garret's motion and change to a hosting provider with better MODX support.
that was also my question to the hosting company.
i hope it is just a setting that they can change
