Counting a specific list of tags

I have a TV for general tags which has become quite a large pool of various tags. I've used the tagLister snippet to output a list of the tags with their count in brackets, e.g. Spain (30), China (28), France (12), England (10), Australia (1).

What I'm looking to do is only output a specific list of this large pool of tags. For example only count the tags which are from Europe and then show their count.

At the moment, as far as I can see, the tagLister group of snippets doesn't have any "exclude" or "include" specific tags functionality; does anyone know if this is possible?

If not, has anyone seen a way of grouping tags or some sort of tag manager/organiser?
